Russell Coleman
The Centralia Sports Hall of Fame
1986 Individual Award Winner


 

Basketball All-American at Centralia Junior College (now Kaskaskia College) in 1964, leading the nation with 1,042 points. That total, along with 62 points in one game, are records at KC.    He averaged 32.0 p.p.g. while at Centralia Junior College.  

At Centralia High School, Coleman played for Bill Davies basketball teams that were 19-12 (1960) and 29-2 (1961).  He received All-State special mention recognition from the Chicago American and the Champaign News Gazette his Senior year.

For the 1964 season Coleman received NJCAA All-region honors and was also named SICC First-Team All-Conference. 

In 1991, he was inducted into the Kaskaskia College (C.J.C.) Athletic Hall of Fame. He was named to I.B.C.A. Hall of Fame in 1992.
