George Dugan
The Centralia Sports Hall of Fame
1989 Individual Award Winner


 

A left-handed pitching sensation at Centralia High School in 1960 and 1961. He recorded a 0.00 ERA while pitching 51 innings in 1961. 

Holds CHS records of nine wins one season (Spring season), six shutouts one season, eleven shutouts for a career, and 32 consecutive scoreless innings. He had 1.69 strikeouts per innings pitched for his CHS career.

Dugan went on to a sensational baseball career at Murray State University (1962 through 1965). He was named All-Ohio Valley Conference all four years as well as being named OVC player of the year a record three times. At one time, he held 16 single season and career pitching records at MSU. 

In 1963, Dugan led the nation with a 0.29 ERA. Through 2007, he still held MSU single season records of: winning percentage 1.000 (9-0, 1965), ERA 0.29 (1963), shutouts (4, 1965), strikeouts (101, 1964). And career records of: wins (25), ERA (1.03), complete games (24), and strikeouts (343).
