In two varsity football seasons
at Centralia High School, he scored 13
touchdowns and the teams compiled a record
of 16-1-1. He was chosen All-State as he
played for the famed undefeated team of
1958. In basketball he also gained All-State
honors as he averaged 20.3 p.p.g. for the
24-6 Orphans of 1958-59.
