Mark Patrick
The Centralia Sports Hall of Fame
2003 Individual Award Winner


 

While running track at the University of Tennessee in 1982 and 1983, Mark Patrick achieved NCAA All-American status for his accomplishments in the two-mile relay (indoor 1982), 1600 meter relay (outdoor 1982), and the 400 intermediate hurdles (outdoor 1983).

Before his arrival at UT, he also garnered NJCAA All-American honors at Parkland College in 1981.  These honors were for the 400 intermediate hurdles (outdoor), and the 1600 meter relay (indoor).

At Centralia High School, Patrick collected South Seven Conference titles in the 330 low hurdles in 1977 (school record 39.0) and 1978, and as part of the two-mile relay team (1977 and 1978), and mile relay team (1977 and 1978).

At the IHSA Class AA Sectional level, he also grabbed championships as part of the two-mile relay team (1977), and the mile relay team (1978, school record, and Sectional record 3:22.67). He also finished second to twin brother David in the Sectional 330 low hurdles (1978).

After his scholastic competition days were over, he was a member of the 1983 Pan American team in the 400 hurdles, and in 1984, he finished sixth in the Olympic trials also in the 400 hurdles.
