Ryan received All-State recognition as Quarterback of the undefeated (9-0) CHS Football
Team of 1969. For the season he threw
for 1,242 yards on 59 cocmpletions in 111
attempts. He had 9 completions in 12
attempts for 356 hards and 6 touchdowns in
one game.
The Evansville Courier named Ryan All-South Seven Conference First Team Quarterback and All-Southern Illinois First Team Quarterback.
From records kept since 1962, Ryan at one
time held CHS football passing records of Career Yards 1,585 (177-82), Career Completions 82, and
Season Passing Yards of 1,242. The 1969 team out scored their opponents 312-39.
Ryan scored 85 points as a member of the 1969 CHS Basketball Team that finished 23-7.
