They were second of 18 teams at Edwardsville, and third of 42 teams at the prestigious Peoria Invitational. The team took the South Seven Conference title with Neal West winning the individual title. Nick Schwartz was third and Vince Schwartz fourth as all seven runners finished in the top 20.

The Orphans qualified for the IHSA Class AA State Meet with a second place showing in the Sectional, five points behind Springfield (Lanphier). West was second individually as three runners placed in the top 15.
