Led by Southern Illinois Player of the year, Angela Mick, the Annies made it all the way to the IHSA Class AA State Tournament (Elite Eight) played in Pekin. They fell to Joliet (St. Francis) 0-1 in their quarterfinal game to complete a 21-6 season. In the loss to St. Francis, pitcher, Mick, gave up just one hit, a home run that had there been a fence where there is now a fence, the hit would have only been a double.

In Sectional play leading up to their Elite Eight appearance, the Annies avenged two regular season losses to perennial power Herrin by coming from behind for a 4-3 win. In the championship game, they downed St. Jacob (Triad) 1-0.

Mick ended with a 17-4 record and a 0.158 era. The Annies were led in hitting by Billie Ramsey (.313, 18 RBI), and Andi Walker (.306, 18 RBI). The team outscored their opponents 151-48.
