Talented,
loyal and dedicated words that
sum up the life of Randy List who has spent
more than 30 years in various capacities in
the sports department at the Centralia
Morning Sentinel.
Just how dedicated was List to his
craft? Consider the fact he covered a
local event on his wedding day and you have
your answer!
In the early 2000's List left The Sentinel
for just a brief time, but he returned after
about a year away and currently serves as
the paper's Sports Editor. He has also
served as the "beat writer" for
for Centralia sports and has devoted many
hours and years to sports in the rest of the
area schools inside the paper's coverage
area.
"You will never find anyone willing to
work longer and do all the little things it
takes for a sorts department to be
successful," said former Morning
Sentinel sports editor Mike McManus.
"Randy never has known what a day-off
means, because even on his scheduled days
off he is out there covering
something. He is as dedicated as
anyone can be to his profession."
List was recognized in 2013 for his
contributions to the sports world by being
inducted into the media wing of the Illinois
Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame.
