Jim Taxman
The Centralia Sports Hall of Fame
1996 VIP Award Winner


 

Known as the “Golden Voice” of Centralia High School Sports, Jim Taxman announced basketball, football, and baseball for the local radio station from the 1960’s to the 1980’s.  The 1951 C.H.S. and 1955 University of Illinois graduate has been a longtime Centralia sports enthusiast.

He did a final play-by-play for the 2002 Orphans who took third place in the IHSAA Class 2A state tournament. 

Taxman was also public address announcer for C.H.S. sporting events and master of ceremonies for many special occasions. He served as president of the Centralia Sports Hall of Fame Committee for five years.
