T.W. Clarida
The Centralia Sports Hall of Fame
1985 Individual Award Winner


 

Clarida was Centralia High School track coach from 1918 to 1937.  He coached State track champions Wiley Cox (State mile champion 1920, 1921, 1922), Howard Stansell (State Long Jump champion, 1931, Lowell Spurgeon (State Long Jump champion 1933,1934 and High Jump champion 1933,1934) David Waterbury (State High Jump champion, 1935, and Virgil Robinson (State Pole Jump champion, 1937.  

The above records indicate that five of Clarida's trackmen won a total of 10 individual state championships under his tutelage.

He was also assistant basketball coach and assistant football coach under Head Coach A.L. Trout, including the famed 1921-22 basketball team and the 1936 11-0 football team
